This little bird rested for a moment in a small aspen near my deck. I had to photograph between the pickets on the railing. The soft look near the sides is actually the edge of the out-of-focus pickets. 1/320 second, f/5.6, 400mm, ISO 400


Nice. The out of focus fence is indistinguishable from the depth of field, at least on my monitor.
I’m enjoying the subtle differences between this little one and the black-cappeds we see around here.
Thank you, Wren. I thought I should include some of the small birds in my lens practice. There are a couple of others I’d like to capture and post, but it’s a dark snowy day today.
