this is spring

_mg_8677

It’s a normally a busy time of year and this year even busier. At least it’s been raining so we don’t have wildfires to worry about – yet.

My pigment ink printer stopped working a couple of weeks ago while I was preparing for June shows. I was very annoyed by this at such a busy time, but am now extremely happy with the new printer bought to replace the old one. The epson pro 3800 fits in the same space my hp b9180 did, but can accept wider papers. And most importantly, the prints are perfect.

I’ve also been busy uploading photos to my new portfolio site at zenfolio and quite happy with it, too, though I haven’t accomplished as much as I’d planned. You can see what I’ve on display there so far.

Going to a BBQ in the rain today! After that, more printing, cutting, matting, and framing. First show is next Sunday at Buffalo Creek, Colorado.

bright clouds at sunrise

In the sky last week: a bright wave above the treetops.

I loved the tiny, thin line of cloud stretched out beside lions head. Named it, “lions breath”.

I can’t get away from the moon.

I’ve got the moon in my head. I listened to an old song with a line about the moon and the line played over and again in my mind for a week. Cured the condition by listening to lots of other music, but am being careful with that song from now on. Won’t even type the title. 😉

cloud party over plattes and kenoshas

An image I planned to post last month. I wish it looked more like that now, we’ve nothing but sunshine today.

Studio is painted and about 1/3 of the new floor is in place. I’m working from our dining table until I can move back into the studio.

wind driven clouds

Outside thinking I’d photograph a tall tree leaning with the wind, I looked up to see a long roll of clouds that stretched across the sky like a giant frayed rope.

Braced against the strong gusts (forecast to 80 mph) I used a wide angle lens and polarizing filter to capture several images in the few minutes available before the wind drove the clouds eastward and away.

stormy upgrade

This is a test post. The storm photo is from a trip through South Park in late July this year. The trip was as stormy as last night’s wordpress upgrade to version 2.6.5.

I’m having problems with the visual editor and the file uploading tool. At first, the upload tool didn’t show up at all so I found the missing files and uploaded those. Now I can upload, but can’t check what I’ve done with the visual editor, can only see and write in the html editor.

Dramatic Morning Clouds over Lions Head

When I’m up before sunrise and clouds are in the west, I’m rewarded with a view like this to photograph. (click image for larger view) This morning, when I looked out the window, the clouds were already pink over lions head so I ran with the camera and tripod out in my pajamas to capture the color that never lasts long. A few seconds of barefoot on the cold deck was all I could stand and the color was disappearing fast, so I didn’t take the time to set mirror lockup, but did use the tripod to steady the camera for the low light shot. 1/8 second at F11 with the ISO set at 400 and a focal length of 10mm. Canon 30d with canon ef-s 10-22mm lens.
