I wish we had these around as well. Love the feather patterns.

Thanks, Wren and Mark. I love these birds, the color, the ever changing crest, the way they call all their friends to the feast when I scatter food for them. Quite common they are in my area and usually willing to pose for a treat.

Here you are! Makes me want to be lazy and stay with blogger. Garden of the Gods doesn’t look like a real place! And your birdies are spectacular, as are all your photos. I try, but but have fuzzy snapshots in comparison to your fine work.

Thanks, Melissa, I’m so glad you found me. I like what you’ve done with your Blogger blog, and love following the progress of your current painting. Thanks for the photos compliment. Not all my photos are great, you don’t see the ones deleted!
Great photos of the Steller’s Jay! I love their beautiful crest and those gorgeous blues.

Thanks, Howard, I like that one best, too. The crumbles of suet I threw out there really brought the jays in that day, but I prefer the shots without the food!
Thanks, April. I took a quick peek at your blog and plan to go back for a good read soon.
I love that bright blue – we don’t have stellar’s jays here in the east, but I enjoy seeing them when I travel.

What wonderful photographs!
Are these with your new lens? Or were you able to see them this close?
I agree that folks never see the ones that don’t make the cut. I think that’s why I’ve been sluggish in putting up paintings on blog recently.
Beautiful job!
Thanks, Tracy.
They were probably 40 – 50 ft away. Captured at 400mm and then cropped a little for the web.
Great shots…I particularly like the one with the birds head turned around…and great catchlights as well.
