When not outdoors listening to the birds, many of us\u00a0sing and call out to\u00a0other bird lovers on\u00a0our blogs. Our songs\u00a0are about\u00a0sighting and identifying,\u00a0feeding and protecting, counts and migrations,\u00a0courting and reproducing, survival and death.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As host of Edition #74 of IATB, I&#8217;d like to have a songfest\u00a0for bird-loving bloggers.\u00a0<br \/>\n<em>Let the singing begin!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>(edited to include one more! scroll to the end of the post to read additional)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/thedrinkingbird.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/birding-down-river.html\"><strong>Birding Down the River<\/strong><\/a><\/em> is sure to be a pop\u00a0hit for this carnival with N8 at The Drinking Bird singing\u00a0a song of Carolina, listening to the birds sing, and cliff swallows nesting. N8\u00a0warbles in harmony with Mike of 10,000 birds as they count warblers in their respective locations.<\/p>\n<p>And Mike&#8217;s charming warble, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/10000birds.com\/prothonotary-warbler-in-central-park.htm\"><strong>Prothonotary Warbler in Central Park<\/strong><\/a><\/em>, at 10,000 Birds is beautifully done with\u00a0some <em>Screeches <\/em>at the end.<\/p>\n<p>In <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.borealbirds.org\/blog\/?p=87\"><strong>St. Louis was Cold<\/strong><\/a><\/em>, Jeff at Boreal Bird Blog\u00a0sings a song of birding in the St. Louis area and\u00a0a song of\u00a0appreciation for Audubon Conservation efforts in St. Louis.\u00a0 If you haven&#8217;t already, be sure to follow the link in Jeff\u2019s post to sign the petition and learn how you can help the wild birds that depend on the Boreal Forest.<\/p>\n<p>In Tucson, Arizona, Pam\u00a0sings\u00a0a mourning song, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/pashack1.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/sad-tale-of-owl-family.html\"><strong>A Bitter-Sweet\u00a0Tale of an Owl Family<\/strong><\/a>,<\/em> on her blog, Tortoise Trail.<\/p>\n<p>Moe sings about the\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.iowavoice.com\/2008\/04\/20\/american-goldfinch-male-spring-molt-breeding-plumage-and-song-audio\/\"><strong>American Goldfinch<\/strong><\/a><\/em>\u00a0on his blog and even allows the bird a chance to sing there, too.\u00a0\u00a0See the photos, watch the videos, and learn about the American Goldfinch at Iowa Voice.<\/p>\n<p>A\u00a0song of <em><a href=\"http:\/\/howardgrill.blogspot.com\/2008\/01\/serendipity.html\"><strong>Serendipity<\/strong><\/a><\/em>\u00a0is sung by fine art photographer Howard Grill on his blog, Motivation. Howard&#8217;s lovely photo\u00a0shows us\u00a0the heron and sunrise which inspired his song.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/wildbirdsunlimited.typepad.com\/the_zen_birdfeeder\/2008\/04\/since-april-9th.html\"><strong>Fox Sparrows Migrating Through<\/strong><\/a><\/em> is a happy\u00a0song\u00a0by The Zen Birdfeeder\u00a0about the fox sparrow\u2019s\u00a0color and feeding habits\u00a0with\u00a0photos to help us ID the species.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/brdpics.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/some-lifers-are-easier-than-others.html\"><strong>Some Lifers are Easier than Others<\/strong><\/a><\/em>\u00a0is birding photographer\u00a0Bill Schmoker\u2019s song at BrdPics. Every picture tells a story in this ballad of a birding trip and in the end we find ourselves wishing Bill many more \u201cEasy Lifers\u201d so we can\u00a0see even more of his BrdPics.<\/p>\n<p>Seabrooke sings of a close encounter with a hawk in<em> <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/themarvelousinnature.wordpress.com\/2008\/04\/19\/red-tail-fly-by\/\"><strong><em>Red Tail Fly By<\/em><\/strong><\/a><em>.<\/em> With\u00a0wonderful photos throughout, Seabrooke\u2019s song lives up to her blog&#8217;s title, the Marvelous in Nature.<\/p>\n<p>In Australia, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.trevorsbirding.com\/golden-whistlers-in-the-garden\/\"><strong>Golden Whistlers in the Garden<\/strong><\/a><\/em> have Trevor singing a song of delight at Trevor\u2019s Birding where he shows us photos of both male and female Golden Whistlers\u00a0singing in\u00a0his garden.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/thegreenbelt.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/killdeer-to-photographer-eat-me-not.html\"><strong>Killdeer to Photographer: Eat Me! Not them!<\/strong><\/a><\/em>\u00a0is a song of parental desperation by The Ridger at The Greenbelt with great photos providing back-up to the lyrics.<\/p>\n<p>A song of nesting ritual,<em> <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/grafphoto.com\/wordpress\/2008\/04\/08\/great-blue-herons-building-nest\/\"><strong><em>Great Blue Herons Building Nest<\/em><\/strong><\/a>, is sung by\u00a0nature photographer Mark Graff at\u00a0Notes from the Woods.\u00a0You might\u00a0expect\u00a0this song\u00a0to be serious\u00a0Emo\u00a0on a\u00a0Magic Moment, but Mark manages to find a bit of humor in the ritual.<\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/secoloradobirding.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/baby-owls.html\"><strong>Baby Owls<\/strong><\/a><\/em> is a\u00a0nursery song about the cute and the fuzzy,\u00a0Great Horned Owl Nestlings, sung by SeEtta\u00a0at SE Colorado Birding.<\/p>\n<p>In <em><a href=\"http:\/\/slybird.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/bartramia.html\"><strong>Bartramia<\/strong><\/a><\/em>, we\u00a0have a medley of species with special emphasis on the Upland Sandpipers sung by Nick Sly of Biological Ramblings after a fine day of spring birding.<\/p>\n<p>At Gallicissa, Amila Salgado sings <a href=\"http:\/\/gallicissa.blogspot.com\/2008\/03\/fines-at-sinharaja.html\"><em><strong>Fines at Sinharaja<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, his song of\u00a0guiding a couple of English birders on a two\u00a0day trip\u00a0of\u00a0twitching and photography\u00a0in the rain forest of Sri Lanka.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Humming in British Columbia, Susannah\u2019s tune, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/wanderinweeta.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/zip-buzz-hum.html\"><strong>Zip. Buzz. Hum.<\/strong><\/a>,<\/em>\u00a0at Wanderin\u2019 Weeta gives us a pair of rufous hummingbirds hovering \u2018round a feeder and lots of\u00a0information for rufous ID.<\/p>\n<p>Hum along\u00a0with Max to <em><a href=\"http:\/\/apartmentbiology.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/ready-set-fledge.html\"><strong>Ready, Set, Fledge!<\/strong><\/a><\/em> at The Apartment Biologist.\u00a0His song is\u00a0a hopeful\u00a0one of survival for fledgling Annas hummingbirds.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/ecobirder.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/happy-earth-day-and-happy-anniversary.html\"><em><strong>An Earth Day and Anniversary Celebration<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0marks a milestone.\u00a0Ecobirder\u00a0performs a medley of greatest hits from year one of blogging.\u00a0Congrats on the anniversary\u00a0to you, Ecobirder!\u00a0What Superb Photography!<\/p>\n<p>In <em><a href=\"http:\/\/birdaz.com\/blog\/2008\/04\/29\/provence-2008-the-camargue-i\/\"><strong>Provence 2008: The Camargue I<\/strong><\/a><\/em>, Rick Wright sings the praises of the Camargue,\u00a0a must-visit\u00a0birding\u00a0paradise in Provence, France.<\/p>\n<p>Liza Lee Miller\u00a0holds a sing-along\u00a0with\u00a0wild turkeys in\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/egretsnest.wordpress.com\/2008\/04\/28\/turkeys-prowling-the-streets-of-morro-bay\/\"><strong>Turkeys Prowling the Streets<\/strong><\/a><\/em>. See and hear the gobblers on her blog, It&#8217;s Just Me.<\/p>\n<p>At The House and Other Arctic Musings, blogger Clare Kine\u00a0is singing a song of spring in the High Arctic with <em><a href=\"http:\/\/kiggavik.typepad.com\/the_house_other_arctic_mu\/2008\/04\/return-of-the-k.html\"><strong>Return of the Kiggavik<\/strong><\/a><\/em>\u00a0on the return of the Gyrfalcons.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/snailseyeview.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/egrets-weve-had-few.html\"><em><strong>Egrets&#8230;we&#8217;ve had a few<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0is the song at Snail&#8217;s Eye View.\u00a0Don&#8217;t let the modest title of this one fool you!\u00a0Snail&#8217;s song provides ID information and great photos of these beautiful birds.<\/p>\n<p>At Steve Bodio&#8217;s Querencia, the song\u00a0is from Cat <span lang=\"EN\">Urbigkit of Wyoming and shows us an Eagle doing a little\u00a0<em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/stephenbodio.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/spring-duck-hunting.html\">Spring Duck Hunting.<\/a><\/strong><\/em><\/span><span lang=\"EN\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\">The\u00a0sweet song of\u00a0thanks, <em><a href=\"http:\/\/capepish.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/awww.html\"><strong>Awww&#8230;<\/strong><\/a><\/em>, by Bennet\u00a0at\u00a0his blog, Pish, will make you smile.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\"><\/span><span lang=\"EN\">Chas, at Southern Rockies Nature Blog, notes <a href=\"http:\/\/natureblog.blogspot.com\/2008\/04\/persistence-of-pigeons.html\"><em><strong>The Persistence of Pigeons<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0with an interesting\u00a0photograph.<\/span><span lang=\"EN\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\"><\/span><span lang=\"EN\">And now, one final song:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\"><\/span><span lang=\"EN\">Drew, at Nemesis Bird, sings of an <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.birderswiki.com\/?p=119\"><em><strong>Orchard Oriole<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0and warblers, too. Oh, to photograph\u00a0such a beauty\u00a0among the flowers!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span lang=\"EN\"><\/span><span lang=\"EN\"><\/span><span lang=\"EN\"><span lang=\"EN\"><span lang=\"EN\"><span lang=\"EN\"><span lang=\"EN\"><span lang=\"EN\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><\/span><span lang=\"EN\"><span lang=\"EN\"><span lang=\"EN\"><span lang=\"EN\"><span lang=\"EN\"><strong><em>Big OOPS!! I missed a song somehow!<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\nWith all the singing going on, I failed to hear one song of birding at Bellbird Corner by Ben Cruachan. <a href=\"http:\/\/bencruachan.org\/blog\/?p=512\"><em><strong>Now look here&#8230;.<\/strong><\/em><\/a>\u00a0sang Ben and with a title like that you might wonder how Con missed it. I wonder, too.
