Conifers\u00a0form a\u00a0springy green background for the bird on the fence while\u00a0the pond ice background gives\u00a0the second image the feel of winter.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1395\" title=\"robin at icy pond\" src=\"http:\/\/condaily.com\/consworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/_mg_7402.jpg\" alt=\"robin at icy pond\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/condaily.com\/consworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/_mg_7402.jpg 450w, https:\/\/condaily.com\/consworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/_mg_7402-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Though ice still covers\u00a0the ponds this week, the Canada geese, six of them, \u00a0have returned to Lower Lake Ranch to stake nesting claims at the fishing ponds. The one below hid from me in the tall grass the same evening I photographed the robin.\u00a0 Same buck fence in the background but how different\u00a0the color due to a passing cloud and\u00a0 my angle of view which excludes the conifers in this one.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1403\" title=\"canada goose in grass\" src=\"http:\/\/condaily.com\/consworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/_mg_7395.jpg\" alt=\"canada goose in grass\" width=\"450\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/condaily.com\/consworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/_mg_7395.jpg 450w, https:\/\/condaily.com\/consworld\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/04\/_mg_7395-150x100.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 450px) 100vw, 450px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I caught a glimpse at great distance of a blue heron on the creek the same day I made these photographs so know they&#8217;ve come back to us as well.
